Day 1 - Colombo Airport – Kandy

Arrival in Colombo & Transfer to Kandy

Arrive at Colombo International Airport, where you will be met by an airport representative and a designated guide from Esna Holidays.
After completing the airport formalities, proceed in your air-conditioned vehicle towards Kandy.
En route, visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, located about 90 KM from Colombo towards Kandy.
The orphanage is home to around 100 or more elephant orphans, offering visitors an opportunity to observe these magnificent animals.
The orphanage is open from 8:30 AM to 5:45 PM.
Visitors can interact a little with the elephants during the regulated feeding and bathing times.
Feeding times are at 9:15 AM, 1:15 PM and 5:00 PM.
Bathing times are from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon and 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Spice & Herbal Garden

Visit a Spice and Herbal Garden, where Sri Lanka’s valued spices and healing herbs can be experienced in their natural surroundings.
Discover herbs and plants such as Sandalwood, Margosa, Cocoa, Citronella, Almond, Jasmine, and Coconut.
Learn about the cultivation of cloves, pepper, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, and saffron.

Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic
Visit Kandy Temple – Sri Dalada Maligawa, the Temple of the Sacred Tooth.
The temple was originally built by the Kandyan Kings in 1595 to house and honor the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha.
The temple attracts white-clad pilgrims bearing lotus flowers for worship and features intricate carvings reflecting the architectural values of Kandy.
Kandy is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with the Temple of the Tooth being an important part of its heritage.

Optional Kandy Cultural Show

Later in the evening, enjoy an optional Kandy Cultural Show.
Experience traditional Sri Lankan art forms during this hour-long cultural extravaganza.
Watch fire dancers, sword dancers, and colorful Kandyan dancers perform to the rhythmic beats of traditional drums.
